Environmentally-friendly cleaning products are called as such because they are intended to be safer for the environment. These eco friendly cleaning products are marketed as natural cleaning products since they are manufactured from plant-based materials instead of synthetic materials. Other terms for these products are non-toxic cleaning products and green cleaning products. These products essentially differ from conventional cleaning products in their basic formulation.

Environmentally-friendly cleaning products utilize natural, plant-based ingredients. Chemical surfactants used in conventional cleaning products are replaced with vegetable-based surfactants made from coconut, corn, or palm in eco friendly cleaning products. These products also use natural non-chlorine bleaching agents such as sodium percarbonate, sodium carbonate, and hydrogen peroxide. These environmentally-friendly products are available from most retail stores and even online through the Internet.
